Privacy Policy

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and display name. For the free tier, we also collect your phone number for SMS verification to confirm your identity and prevent abuse.

Usage Data

We collect anonymised data about how you use the Platform, including play events, search queries, and navigation patterns. Play events are anonymised before storage and cannot be traced back to individual listeners.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. BanksiaStream does not store, and never has access to, your full credit card number or bank account details. Stripe retains and processes this information according to their own privacy policy.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform and its features.
• Personalise the Hub discovery experience, helping listeners find content they'll love.
• Send you notifications about your account, new episodes, and community activity.
• Process subscription payments and manage billing.
• Understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it.
• Enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Audio files you upload are stored in Supabase Storage. Transcripts are generated using OpenAI's Whisper model. These transcripts may be used for:

• Search indexing, so listeners can find your episodes by content.
• AI-powered features such as automatic chapter generation and show notes.
• Non-destructive editing, where you edit the transcript and your audio follows.

Transcripts are never sold or shared with third parties. They remain associated with your account and content.

Certain community interactions are visible to other users by design:

• Seeds — Your endorsement of an episode is visible to the creator and other listeners.
• Comments — Timestamp comments on episodes are public.
• Poll votes — Your participation in polls is visible to the creator.

Listening activity is anonymised in the Live Pulse Strip and cannot be attributed to individual users.

BanksiaStream uses cookies for:

• Authentication — Supabase session tokens that keep you logged in securely.
• Locale preference — Remembering your language preference.
• Affiliate referral tracking — Tracking how you discovered the Platform so we can credit referral partners.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.

BanksiaStream integrates with the following third-party services, each of which has their own privacy policy:

• Stripe — Payment processing and billing.
• Supabase — Data hosting, authentication, and file storage.
• OpenAI — Audio transcription via Whisper.
• ElevenLabs — AI dubbing for multilingual content.
• DeepL — Translation services.
• SMTP2Go — Transactional and notification emails.

Each service processes data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies to understand how your data is handled.

• Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
• Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days. Content and associated data are preserved during this period to allow for export requests.
• Play events: Anonymised play event data is retained for analytics for up to 90 days, after which it is aggregated and individual events are deleted.

You have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct — Update or correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete — Request deletion of your personal data and account.
• Export — Download your episodes, transcripts, and account data at any time.

You can delete your account and request data export directly from your account settings. For other requests, contact us at privacy@banksiastream.com.

BanksiaStream is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information.

Your data may be processed and stored in multiple regions as part of our use of global cloud infrastructure. By using BanksiaStream, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email or through a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of BanksiaStream after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
